Peter if you only knew…

Easter is just around the corner, and we are in the heart of Holy Week. There is so much I can talk about, so many topics, from Easter Bunny to Jesus on the cross, but I think I will talk about Peter being in denial.

Peter is like us in a lot aways, he was always putting his foot in his mouth in one way or another, and he did it one lat time at the Last Supper.

Jesus is telling them all how he is going to be betrayed, and Peter offers up that he will follow him any where, even to death!

I can see it, Jesus just shaking his head and saying to himself, “Peter, if you only knew”…

How many times have we told the Lord the something? Yes Jesus, I will follow you anywhere…. And Jesus saying, “Yes you will, unless a football game is, or nothing better comes up”.

We are just like Peter, weak…

Peter was told by his friend, Jesus, that he would denies him 3 times before the cock crows. Peter did not believe this, he knew he was a good friend of Jesus, he loved him, he would give his life for him!

How often have we said that to our good friends? But would we really? Hard to say, but we know what Peter did, he denied him… 3 times!

Peter also ran away from his friend, in his time of need. We all have done that, left our family and friends when they need us the most. Maybe we had a good reason, we had problems of our own, or we just didn’t want to deal with it. What ever the reason, it doesn’t change the fact that we ran off, just like Peter.

But just like Peter we ask for forgiveness, from our friends and family member and from Jesus. We ask for a second chance, to prove ourselves once again worthy.

Peter got his, Jesus made him the head of the Church:

“You are Peter, and upon this Rock I will build my Church”

Now that’s what I call a second chance!

Jesus must have loved Peter very much, he must have seen that deep inside Peter was a faithful man, and a true friend!

Yeah, we are a lot like Peter, we to put our foot in our mouths a lot, run and hide from our troubles and denies our Lord when he needs us the most. I only hope and pray that I also can get that second chance like Peter got, I also want to be a rock for the Lord.

Easter is almost upon us, and we have little time left to prepare for the Risen Lord, Pray and ask St. Peter for guidance, ask him how to remove the foot from your mouth, as he did his own…

Pray to Jesus and ask for the forgiveness that Peter received and pray to God, so you can know the heart of Christ like Peter knew it!

About Paul Sposite

Paul Sposite - Life Coach I began my career as an instructor. As an instructor there are two basic requirements. You have to know yourself, so you know where you’re drawing your inspiration from. And you have to actively listen to the others, and then respond to the subtext of what they are saying. In learning about myself I started to focus a lot on my students, how they learned, what questions they were asking and how I could best modify my methods to best serve them. I believe that if you use your real life problems/issues as insights to the issues you need to heal, you’ll grow. From my experience in the classroom, creating curriculum and material to support my training, I developed an interest in how people process information. This interest turned into my interest in Life Coaching.
